Growing Friendship

2016-02-21 11.25.17

One of the most amazing things about crafting is meeting new friends that share your interests, and in the past 6 months since I started this journey, I have made so many new friends! Today I’m here to celebrate one of those friends, the lovely Jessica Frost-Ballas, and her recent 2k follower milestone on Instagram!

And being the wonderful person that she is, she is also celebrating this milestone with an Instagram hop (start here!), as well some wonderful giveaway treats along the ride in both Instagram and blog.

The theme of this Instagram hop is friendship, and a perfect theme it is for this hop! I thought to bring out an older stamp from Mama Elephant, called Tree Friends, that I have not had the chance to use yet, that was absolutely perfect for this.

This is a truly gorgeous tree, and I really wanted to create a soft, sketch-like scene with this card, so I stamped the image in a soft tan color dye ink so that I can create a no-line coloring look with color pencils.

The mice from the Tandem Ride stamp set was also stamped in the same ink. There was some masking to get the mouse to sit in the tire swing, but most of the sweat and tears were poured into the coloring. It honestly took a long time, but it was completely worth it!

  1. Oh my gosh! This is such a beautiful card! I’ve never seen that stamp before! I’ve been doing the 30 day coloring challenge too because I love to color. I have been coloring since 1980 or 81. My first adult coloring book says copyright 1981. I bought it in a department store where I worked. I had never seen one before, only the ones for little kids. I have loved to color ever since i was a little girl but they didn’t make coloring books for adults until I bought mine. Now everyone is hooked but to me it’s not a new thing. I have tons of colored pencils and I would love to find out how to do no line coloring. I love how yours looks! I guess I’m going hopping tonight!
