The Ton December Release – Day 2

Happy Tuesday! It’s another exciting release day, and today The Ton is featuring Hug in a Mug and Tea Party stamp sets. Now, I am a huge coffee addict and an even bigger tea addict. There’s not a day I don’t have both at least once a day, if not more. And I also LOVE afternoon teas. So it was truly fun and exciting to be working with these stamps!

Today’s card feature the Tea Party and Caffeine Crush sentiment sets. I am absolutely in love with these tea cups because it reminded me of beautiful vintage tea cups that I always find at vintage farmer markets. With that inspiration in mind, I chose to use the rose pattern tea cups in the set.

I began by gold embossing the tea cup, the rose pattern, and the plate. Then I went back and colored in the pieces with zig clean color markers. For the background, I first embossed my sentiment from the Caffeine Crush set, and then blended a vintage photo brown to a tattered rose pink using distress inks.

I die cut out a stitched rectangle from the distressed blended background, and then a larger scallop framed piece out of kraft cardstock. I sprinkled a bit of white watercolor on the background and added my cut out tea cup and plate to the card.

Before finishing up the card, I wanted to draw some steam coming out of the teacup and drew those in white color pencil. This allowed me to have a light transparent steam, without overpowering the sentiment. And of course, as a very last step I added just a few Glass Slipper sequins to the card for a little bit of sparkle.
